Mona Høvring
   
  Mona Høvring   Mona Høvring was born in 1962 in Haugesund, Norway. She has been a dentist’s assistant, has worked in an aluminium factory, in a bookshop, and on an oil rig in the North Sea and for The Norwegian Authors’ Union as a member of The Literary Council.
She has published five collections of poetry: IIK!! Ein dialog / EEK!! A Dialogue (Gyldendal, 1998), Ensomme badedager og andre dikt / Lonely Bathing Days and Other Poems (Oktober, 2000), Helt vanlige mirakler / Ordinary Miracles (Oktober, 2006), Å paradis / Oh Paradise (Oktober, 2008) and Ekornet og den vaklevorne brua / The squirrel and the Rickety-rackety Bridge... Poems and psalms (Oktober, 2010). Her first novel, Noe som hjelper / Something that Helps (Oktober, 2004) was nominated for the yearbook of The Book club Kursiv in the same year (Film option sold to Tordenfilm). In 2006, the poem ‘Fersken, Plomme, pœre’ / ‘Peach, Plum, Pear’ – from Helt vanlige mirakler – was nominated for the poem of the year by Ordfront radio program on NRK P2. Helt vanlige mirakler was nominated in 2007 for Ungdommens Kritikerpris (inspired by the Prix Goncourt des Lycéens) and in 2012 for Venterommet i Atlanteren. Her last novel is Camillas lange nette / Camilla’s Long Nights (Oktober, 2013). She has received the Språklig samlings litteraturpris 2012, and a nomination at the Nordisk Råds Litteraturpris 2014.
